Estimate income tax, Medicare, superannuation, HELP repayments and take-home pay across annual, monthly, fortnightly, weekly, daily and hourly views.
Understand the estimate
A clearer estimate starts with understanding what each amount means and where it fits into your annual income.
Australian income tax is progressive. Different portions of taxable income are charged at different rates, based on residency status and the selected financial year.
The standard Medicare levy helps fund Australia's public health system. Most Australian residents pay up to 2%, with a reduced levy for eligible low-income earners.
Super is long-term retirement saving funded through employer and personal contributions. This calculator supports super included in a package or paid on top of cash salary.
Your pay is annualised, package super is separated when required, salary sacrifice reduces taxable income, then tax, Medicare and HELP rules are applied before take-home pay is converted to each frequency.
Common questions
It provides an estimate using the 2025–26 rules represented in the calculator. Actual withholding and tax assessments may differ because deductions, offsets, exemptions, family circumstances and payroll rounding are not fully represented.
No. Claiming the tax-free threshold changes PAYG withholding during the year, not your final annual income-tax liability. The calculator estimates annual liability.
Eligible salary sacrifice is deducted from cash salary before income tax and Medicare are estimated. It is added to superannuation and included in HELP repayment income because reportable super contributions form part of that calculation.
On-top super is added by the employer above the entered cash salary. Included super means the entered amount is a total package, so the calculator separates cash salary and employer super using the selected percentage.
No. Eligible private hospital cover may affect the separate Medicare Levy Surcharge, but it generally does not remove the standard Medicare levy. This calculator currently estimates the standard levy only.
No. Calculations run locally in your browser and the website does not send entered salary figures to a calculator backend.
